Pruning

Pruning is an essential tree maintenance practice that involves the selective removal of branches or parts of a tree. There are several types of pruning, each serving a specific purpose:

  • Pruning out dead wood and removing dead, dying, or diseased limbs: This helps make areas like roofs, play areas, driveways, and yards safer. It also promotes the overall health of the tree by removing potential sources of infection and decay.
  • Crown thinning: This involves removing a percentage of limbs from the outer canopy to allow more air flow through the tree. This can help prevent storm damage and improve the overall health and appearance of the tree.
  • Pruning for future development: This type of pruning is mostly used on younger trees or branches small enough not to harm the health of the tree. It helps establish good branch structure and removes crossing limbs that may cause harm to people or the tree.

Elevated pruning for clearance or vista pruning: This type of pruning involves removing branches that obstruct views or interfere with structures.

Tree Removal

Tree removal is a last resort and should only be considered when a tree is dead, diseased, or poses a safety hazard. The process involves disassembling the tree in a safe and controlled manner. The wood can then be recycled or repurposed.

Lightning Protection

Lightning protection involves installing copper wire and attachments to a tree to direct lightning down through the copper and into the ground. This reduces the potential for lightning to damage the tree. Lightning protection can be especially important for historic or sentimental trees.

Cabling and Bracing

Cabling and bracing are used to provide additional support to trees with multiple trunks or weak branches. This involves attaching cables and hooks between stems of a single tree to increase stability. The materials used for cabling and bracing are designed to be strong and durable.

Don't Just Take Our Word For It

Robert and his team showed up on time and did exactly what we had talked about. The price was fair. The work was excellent. I came home to trimmed trees and a clean yard. We would highly recommend King Solomons tree service!!

He did an amazing job not only taking down a dead tree but pruning others so they would be safe to keep. He really knows trees!"

What a great company! We called and he was out the same day to take care of some downed trees during a Nor'easter that we had. He was prompt, the price was fair, and he even took the time to educate me about what needed to be done with my trees. Most companies I use simply tell me what needs to be done, but he really took the time to explain what and why. Can't wait to have him back in the spring to maintain my trees!"
